2006: Cartwright played in all 16 games as the primary kickoff return specialist and on special teams. 2005: Cartwright served primarily on special teams and had 22 special teams tackles, third-best on the team. He also came out of the backfield to log 199 yards on 27 carries, a 7.4-yards per carry average, and two touchdowns. He had two ctaches for 23 yards.

2004: Cartwright served as a solid special teams player, recording 15 tackles on kickoff and punt coverage units. He played in 13 games overall.

2003: Cartwright emerged as a solid force in the Redskins backfield, recording 107 carries for 411 yards and four touchdowns, to go along with 18 receptions for 176 yards.

2002: Cartwright had a solid rookie season after earning his spot on the roster and during the season in training camp, contributing in blocking schemes as a backup running back as well getting some touches out of the backfield. He had 11 catches for 121 yards and one touchdown with a 22-yard long and an 11.0 average yards per catch. He also played a strong role in special teams coverage and returns, finishing with three special teams tackles. He made his debut as a Redskin and as a pro against Arizona in Week 1.
